if i go to the court to testify, i would have to take an oath. i must tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. what if our perception on "truth" itself differs? i guess that must be the reason why so many witnesses have lied through their skin. what is the sanctity of the oath that they have just taken? nothing!
remember the old days, when we did something wrong and very bad and we didn't want to confess being the culprit. our parents as a final resort would ask us to swear by the holy quran and the truth was then spilled out. but then, i've seen a lot of adults did the same and i must admit, i was not at all convinced that the oath taken was sincere and truthful. i still traced lies in their voices.
it boils to one thing, people lie everday at every opportunity for various reasons. we have what they term as "white lies". i suppose, white is associated with good and black, to evil. since a lie is an evil thing to do, but its ok to lie occasionally (for good reasons), hence, white lie. can lying be good? the end justify the means?
